Who else hates it when there are like 20 things to do at work? Yea, me too!
For the past few months, I have been juggling work, dating, fitness, family, and catching up on the latest season of Real Housewives of SLC that I missed.
For some reason, I have been having a really hard time sleeping, and I’ve been looking for solutions nonstop.
I’ve pretty much tried everything on the market. Gummies, melatonin, a better mattress, a better pillow, literally everything. Unfortunately, nothing has really consistently worked for me to get better sleep.
I feel like I need to constantly swipe on Hinge or scroll through TikTok, watching videos on my For You page until I’m ready to pass out.
Deep Pressure Therapy
After watching some YouTube videos and reading a few articles on sleep, I stumbled upon something called DPT, or Deep Pressure Therapy, which I thought other people should know more about.
Simply put, Deep Pressure Therapy is just a form of therapy that relaxes your nervous system by applying gentle pressure to your body.
We can all get this positive pressure from things like a hug, cuddling (my personal favorite) or even a weighted blanket.
Lately, I’ve been using a new weighted blanket from a brand called Let’s Cuddle to sleep better, and I’ve really loved the results.
The Benefits of a Weighted Blanket

Basically, when you apply pressure to the body, the body switches from being in “fight or flight” mode to what scientists call “rest and digest.”
Things like cuddling or weighted blankets activate our “parasympathetic” nervous system, also called our PSNS.
Our PSNS is just a network of nerves whose only goal is to relax our body after periods of stress or danger. When activated, it literally brings a sense of calm and peace to our body and mind.
Here are the main benefits that I’ve found from weighted blanket-induced DPT:
- I have lower cortisol and am in a much better mood throughout the day.
- I have less tossing and turning because the weighted blanket keeps me in place.
- My muscles are feeling much less sore after workouts which is always good 🙂

All in all, it’s been pretty seamless to integrate because it’s just the blanket that I added to my bed.
It’s definitely helped me get better, more consistent sleep. This is the exact blanket that I use (15lb, Peony) from Let’s Cuddle.
The other thing I love about it is that it’s natural. Unlike melatonin or other sleeping aids, you don’t wake up feeling groggy or hazy from the night before.
I’ve been recommending it to most of my friends, and I’d definitely consider trying one.
BTW Let’s Cuddle is giving Daily Wellness readers a chance to save $25 on a blanket when you use the code DAILY25 at checkout. Go forth and sleep better.
I hope that this helps you get tons of better sleep.
